RESIN SYNTANS -

Resin syntans are leather chemicals used for retanning of leather during wet end processing to produce leathers with good fullness, soft handle and smooth grain characteristics. Resin syntans are used in combination with replacement syntans to produce leathers suitable for use as shoe-upper, garment leathers etc.

Resin syntans are the condensation products of Urea, melamine, DCDA etc,. with formaldehyde. As the resin syntans are bigger molecules they are blended with dispersing agents for easier penetration into the skin or hide.

  • Resin syntans are particularly used for filling those areas of the hide or skin where the fiber structure gives looseness. Resin syntans penetrate the skin structure easily and get deposited in loose areas.
  • Generally resin syntans based on melamine and dicyandiamide are preferred.
  • Resin syntans are generally used in combination with auxiliary syntans. Auxiliary syntans help in penetration of resin syntans into the skin structure.
  • Resin syntans give tighter fiber structure and finer grain break than vegetable tans.

Venus produces following resin syntans :
Ventan DRS is resin syntan suitable for retanning of all types of chrome tanned leathers. It can be used in combination with other tanning materials. It is available in the form of spray dried free flowing powder. It is based on dicyandiamide condensation product.

Ventan MRS is resin syntan suitable for retanning of all types of chrome tanned leathers. It can be used in combination with other tanning materials. It is available in the form of spray dried free flowing powder. It is based on melamine formaldehyde condensation product.

Ventan LR is liquid resin syntan based on Urea formaldehyde condensation product.

Ventan GR is liquid resin syntan based on Urea-Glyoxal-formaldehyde condensation product.

Ventan C is special liquid resin syntan based on condensation product of aromatic sulfonic acid with formaldehyde.
