Reactive monomer
What is Reactive Monomers?
Reactive monomers are molecules with polymerizable or crosslinkable groups; Harcryl 1228 is a phosphate ester of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate used in UV/radiation-curable and hydrophilic formulations.
What is the CAS number of Reactive Monomers?
The CAS number of Reactive Monomers is 27274-31-3.
What is Reactive Monomers used for?
Reactive monomers are used in UV-curable coatings and inks; in radiation curing; in hydrophilic polymer systems; in adhesives and sealants; and in specialty polymer modification. Venus Ethoxyethers manufactures and supplies in India; request a quote for your requirements.
Harcryl 1228 (CAS Number: 27274-31-3) is a functional acrylic monomer consisting of mono- and di-phosphate esters of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The mono-to-di phosphate ratio allows incorporation into diverse polymer systems; polarity supports use in hydrophilic coating formulations.
Adhesion and corrosion benefits
The phosphate functional group promotes adhesion to metal, glass, and other substrates—reducing pretreatment steps and coating layers. Improved corrosion resistance from phosphate functionality can reduce reliance on separate corrosion inhibitors in some water-borne systems.
Polymer compatibility
The acrylic backbone integrates into acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and hybrid latex systems during emulsion polymerization or post-addition. Harcryl 1228 is inhibited with 400 ppm hydroquinone for storage stability.
Paint and coating applications
Use Harcryl 1228 in paint and coating formulations requiring adhesion promotion and substrate wetting. See Venadol gemini surfactants and the reactive monomers guide. Contact Venus for samples and formulation guidance.
